Preparations and an invitation!
OK, all! Planning to visit my sister in Rome and am thinking it will be fun to share this adventure with you. Come along via this blog if you like! I'm hoping to share daily, but we'll see how it goes. Will be using the old ipad and my iphone for photos, and am hoping I won't have too many glitches, like losing complete posts as I did when in Israel.
Preparation for this trip is different, since my friend Katherine and I are traveling via the seat of our pants...that is, without anyone else arranging travel, as when we went to Israel. And I think that'll be part of the adventure--just winging this, seeing what adventures are great, and which are "learning experiences," if you get my drift.
But first, tackling the usual preparations, like arranging caregiving for my charges, is underway. A HUGE thank you to Ronda, Carole, and Camilla for agreeing to help out. Pete, you're a darling for encouraging me to go, and Mom, Anne and I wish we'd had this opportunity 20 years ago and you would be with us!
So how did this adventure materialize? Well, you just need one super sister who's working with the FAO (Food and Agricultural Organization of the UN) headquartered in Rome. And she needs to be there for the summer and has to have secured an apartment close to the FAO, which happens to be minutes from the Colosseum. Combine this with my retirement, redeeming air miles, and a supportive husband and...viola! a trip to Rome.
So we'll be getting underway on Tuesday, the 28th--flying via Philly to Rome. Stop in and see if I've navigated my way and if Katherine is still putting up with me. She's leaving the Czech Inn in good hands, I'm sure. Thanks, Joe! Here we gooooo....!
